About Rob Neto

Rob Neto is the author of Sidemount Diving: The Almost Comprehensive Guide, a technical reference used by recreational and technical divers worldwide.

Rob began diving at a time when commercially available sidemount systems were limited and formal instruction resources were scarce. Through years of practical application, experimentation, and refinement, he developed structured configuration principles that emphasized efficiency, streamlining, and problem-solving methodology.

Those principles eventually became the foundation of the first edition of Sidemount Diving, published in 2015. As the configuration evolved within the diving community, Rob expanded and updated the work, releasing a significantly revised second edition in 2020.

The guide has since been translated into multiple languages and adopted by divers internationally.

In addition to his technical writing, Rob has spent years exploring underwater cave systems in Florida and Mexico, applying sidemount principles in demanding overhead environments. His exploration experience informs the practical framework presented in the guide.

Rob is also the author of multiple nonfiction exploration books and award-winning thrillers set in the cave diving world.
